Short answers to the questions we hear most. Anything else, send us a message and we aim to reply within one business day.
Ordering
How do I get a price for a custom size?
Open the cut-to-size calculator, choose the material and thickness, and enter the width and height. The price updates as you type and includes shipping. Add it to your cart like any other product.
Can you cut holes, rounded corners or a shape that isn't in the calculator?
Yes. Use the request-a-quote option on the calculator, or contact us with the material, thickness, finished size and quantity. If you have a drawing, email it to info@distinctandunique.com.
Which sizes do the frames come in?
Sixteen sizes from 5 × 7 to 24 × 36 inches, each with black, gold, silver or white standoffs, as a single frame or in packs of two or three. The full list is on the floating frames page.
Shipping
When will my order ship?
Stock items and cut-to-size pieces ship within 1–2 business days, Monday to Friday.
How much is shipping?
It is included in the price you see. Very large cut-to-size sheets ship as freight, which the calculator flags before you order.
Returns and problems
Can I return an item?
Most items can be returned within 30 days of receipt for a replacement or refund. Custom-made pieces cannot be returned unless we made an error. Shipping costs are refunded only when the return is due to our error or a defect. See the refund policy.
My order arrived damaged. What now?
Email photos of the packaging and the damage to info@distinctandunique.com within 3 days of delivery and we will replace it.
Materials
Acrylic or polycarbonate?
Acrylic for clarity and looks, polycarbonate for anything that might get hit. Cast acrylic is about ten times stronger than glass and engraves frosty white. Polycarbonate is about 250 times stronger than glass and will not shatter, but discolours under a laser. Compare the two.
Will acrylic yellow or crack?
Cast acrylic is UV resistant, so colours stay true and the panels stay clear. It is far tougher than glass and does not shatter.
How do I remove the protective film?
Leave the film on until the piece is cut, drilled and ready to install, then lift a corner and peel. Our guides show three quick methods on video.
