Product details

  • NO HOLES OR GLUE REQUIRED - Our hinges rely solely on friction to hold panels together. Easily cut to custom lengths. Smooth surface allows for easy clean-up.
  • WEATHER PROOF & DURABLE - Performs well at low temperatures and is UV & chemical resistant. Pinless piano style gives a low profile continuous hinge with no openings like standard hinges, reducing sound and air flow.
  • TWO THICKNESSES, TEN LENGTHS - Choose the 3 - 4.5 mm (1/8" - 3/16") hinge for standard acrylic and plexiglass sheets, or the 6 mm (1/4") hinge for thicker panels. Available from 4" to 72" as single pieces or in packs of 2, 3 or 4. NOTE: a hinge only grips panels of its own thickness - match the hinge to your material.
  • VERSATILE - Tested and approved for acrylic and plexiglass. Used for drum shields, free standing sneeze guards, golf cart and ATV windshields, display cases and more.
  • CONVENIENT & REUSABLE - Hinges slide off panels for reuse or for a different application. Need a custom size? Contact us for help.

Our living hinge is made of flexible PVC and can be used in a number of different applications. Recommended for 1/8" - 3/16" (3 - 4.5 mm) panels, or for thicker sheets in the 1/4" (6 mm) version, the friction holds two or more panels together without bolts or messy adhesives. Once assembled the panels move freely up to 300 degrees and allow for free-standing displays when two or more attached pieces are in play. The low profile creates a non-invasive bracket for most acrylic sheeting. A groove for the hinge to bite into helps with separation, but it isn't necessary in low-traffic areas.

Friction-fit PVC

The hinge with no hardware

A clear PVC channel grips two acrylic panels by friction alone. No drilling, no adhesive, and it slides off again for reuse.

Hinged panels swing up to 300 degrees, so three or more sheets stand on their own.

Which hinge do I need?

Why a living hinge

  • A utility knife trimming a clear PVC hinge to length

    Cut to any length

Ten lengths from 4 to 72 inches. Need something in between? Buy the next size up and trim it with a utility knife.

  • Fingers bending a clear PVC hinge to show its flexibility

    Flexible and durable

UV and chemical resistant, and it stays flexible in the cold, so it works outdoors as well as in.

  • Cross-section diagram of the hinge for 3 to 4.5 mm panels with its dimensions

    Two channel sizes

The 3–4.5 mm hinge fits standard acrylic sheet; the 6 mm hinge fits thicker panels. A hinge only grips its own thickness.

  • Two clear hinges side by side showing the H-shaped profile

    Quiet, low profile

A pinless, continuous hinge with no gaps, so it cuts sound and airflow between panels. Sneeze guards, drum shields, windshields, display cases.

Which hinge do I need?

Match the hinge to the sheet. Each channel is sized for one thickness and holds it by friction, so a 6 mm hinge won't grip 3 mm acrylic and a 3–4.5 mm hinge won't take a 6 mm panel.

Assembled in three steps

No tools beyond a utility knife. Take it apart the same way and reuse the hinge.

  1. Trimming a hinge with a utility knife

    Cut to length

Measure the panel edge and trim the hinge with a utility knife.

  2. Two hinges showing the open channels

    Press the panels in

Slide each sheet into a channel until it seats. Friction does the holding.

  3. A hinge flexed between finger and thumb

    Fold and stand

Panels swing up to 300 degrees. Hinge three or more together and the display stands by itself.

Questions, answered

Does it need screws or glue?

No. The channels hold the panels by friction. The hinge slides off again for reuse or a different project.

Which thickness should I order?

The one that matches your sheet. Choose the 3–4.5 mm hinge for 1/8" and 3/16" acrylic, or the 6 mm hinge for 1/4" panels. A hinge only grips panels of its own thickness.

Can I cut it shorter?

Yes. Buy the next size up and trim it to the exact length with a utility knife.

What is it used for?

Drum shields, free-standing sneeze guards, golf cart and ATV windshields, display cases, and any acrylic panels that need to fold or stand.

Is it weatherproof?

Yes. The PVC is UV and chemical resistant and stays flexible at low temperatures.
